AC/DC album to be a Wal-Mart exclusive

NEW YORK (Billboard) - AC/DC's next studio album will be sold exclusively at Wal-Mart stores in the U.S., according to a report in the Wall Street Journal.

The as-yet-untitled Columbia album is expected in the fall.

AC/DC becomes the latest veteran music act to pact exclusively with the retail giant, following Garth Brooks, the Eagles and Journey. The Eagles' "Long Road Out of Eden," released in summer 2007, has been an enormous success, having sold more than 2.98 million copies in the U.S., according to Nielsen SoundScan.

The new AC/DC album is the legendary hard rock band's first since 2000's "Stiff Upper Lip," which has shifted more than 930,000 copies. A tour is expected to follow its release.

AC/DC is one of the few major acts yet to make its music available via Apple's iTunes Music Store. In August 2007, Verizon Wireless snagged the exclusive rights to sell the band's entire back catalog through March 2008, becoming the first and only digital music store to offer AC/DC's content.

But the deal was limited to full-album downloads. That requirement is one of the reasons that AC/DC's music has not appeared in digital form to date. Because full-album downloads are too large and too expensive to sell from mobile phones, Verizon sold them only from the PC version of its VCast Music service, for $12 an album.

Both Columbia and Wal-Mart declined comment to the Journal.

George Clooney not returning to ER

George Clooney has dismissed reports suggesting that he is set to make a return to medical drama 'ER'.
According to People magazine, the 46-year-old actor told 'Entertainment Tonight' that he had never even discussed the possibility of returning to the show as Dr Doug Ross.
Clooney said: "No, never - we never even talked about it. No one has ever asked me."
"It's the funniest thing. The story came out, and I was like 'Where did that come from?' It was everywhere - I mean in one day."

Kelsey Grammer out of hospital after heart attack

LOS ANGELES - The publicist for Kelsey Grammer says the actor has returned home from the hospital, four days after suffering a mild heart attack.

Stan Rosenfield said Thursday that the "Cheers" and "Frasier" star is resting comfortably at his home in Kona on Hawaii's big island. He says Grammer thanks those who called and wrote expressing concern.

Grammer was paddle-boating with his wife, Camilla, on Saturday when he experienced symptoms and was taken to a Kona hospital. Doctors determined the 53-year-old actor had suffered a heart attack that Rosenfield described as "mild."

Rosenfield says he doesn't know if Grammer has a history of heart trouble.

Playing sideman to Rick Braun, Larry Carlton, Gato Barbieri, the Neville Brothers, and many others introduced guitarist/vocalist Steve Oliver to smooth jazz fans, only it was with Steve Reid's circle that Oliver constitute a following. It was 1996 when Reid contacted Oliver at the last hour to fill in for a canceled opening behave. Oliver pip the stage as a solo work and Reid was impressed with the guitarist's vocalese skills and summery sound (Joseph Oliver is a California native and a reliable follower of the laid-back modus vivendi). Oliver had come to vocalese not through King Pleasure or Lambert, Hendricks & Ross, only through Bobby McFerrin and Pat Metheny's process with Richard Bona and David Blamires, wHO sang along with guitar solos. Being a fan of the gross Metheny well-grounded, Reid hired Oliver later on the gig and featured him in his touring band. Reid's Mysteries and Cacoethes in Paradise albums featured Oliver non only as guitar player merely songster as well.

Oliver struck out on his have in 1999 with his debut, Number 1 View, released by Night Vision. The record album spawned trey hit singles on bland nothingness radio and earned the guitarist a Debut Artist of the Year prize from Smooth Jazz News. Duties in Reid's band unbroken Oliver interfering until 2002, when he released Positive Energy on Native Language. Spyro Gyra keyboardist Tom Schuman was in the producer's chairwoman for Oliver's third base album, 3D, released by Koch in 2004.

Kate Nash Says Scarlett Johansson Reviews Are "Sexist"

Kate Nash has lashed out at reviewers, claiming they have been sexist while tackling Scarlett Johansson's debut album Anywhere I Lay My Head.

Discussing a particular (but un-named) review of the Dave Sitek-produced record, the 'Foundations' singer says: "It does my head in that he [meaning the reviewer] had to bring it down such a sh***y level, cutting her down because he can roll his eyes and pass it off as nonsense because 'she's a pretty little girly girl from Hollywood who thinks she can have a go at dressing up like daddy'."

"Shouldn't we just stick to what we do best girls and smell nice? Sell ourselves short? And shut the f**k up? It's blatant sexism." Nash continued in her rant.

"I know if I start talking about this I'm a 'dyke' and 'a man hater' and I'll be 'knocked off that pedestal missy' but these kinds of attitudes should be thought of as prehistoric. If you must attack at least attack fairly, don't be so petty. Point is, I hate arrogant sexist patronising t**ts, I'm really more into equality."
